Re: How to fix SMAD.EXE error message?

“SMAD.EXE” This is the error that comes up as soon as I attempt to update Windows.

Details: SMAD.EXE – (Mozilla FireFox 3.0.9), in Windows XP Home Edition

Any help with this would definitely be greatly appreciated, my system is a Dell Gx270

Re: How to fix SMAD.EXE error message?

Hi Mary, welcome to the forum.

Before we begin with your remedy, kindly check out this page carefully.

It’s Essential you do not dismiss any one of these steps and perform each phase in the sequence suggested down below.

Ensure you execute each stage until given an ok by myself, even if your symptoms seem to have disappeared. The absence of any signs or symptoms doesn’t guarantee your current error has gone.

Make sure you carry out the directions precisely and do not try to repair anything without my guidance, neither should you run any other error repair tools unless requested by myself or an alternative admin from this forum.

1. Please download Reimage from the following link:

-> Reimage Download Link

(Click on the link above and you should see a download box pop-up like the image below. Next either click ‘Run’ or save it and double-click it from your pc.)

2. As soon as Reimage has opened it will start a diagnostic scan . (You will observe something similar to the screenshot below )

3. The moment the scan is done, just click Fix (The cleanup can take a little while, simply let it do it’s job.)

4. As soon as the fix is done, reboot your machine etc. (See underneath.)

Tell me the result…

thanks, ran Reimage and rebooted the machine. The main problems are gone but I continue to get an occasional problem with Windows XP Home Edition?

Re: How to fix SMAD.EXE error message?

That’s ok. We must run one more tool prior to the restoration is completed.

Warning – only run this application after having carried out a total scan and repair by using Reimage above.

1. Download Driver Detective from the link below and save it to your computer.

Download Driver Detective Link

2. Install and load Driver Detective. It will ask if you want to scan your computer, click the ‘Scan’ button in the software. Once it’s finished, it should display the findings of the scan; click ‘Next’ and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair. More detailed tutorials are on hand here.

3. Once the program has finished, make sure you restart your pc.

Remember to reply here telling me your findings!

Re: How to fix SMAD.EXE error message?

Now that your system is clean, to help you secure your pc in the future I recommend that you consider these software programs:

Windows Update
This should guarantee your pc always has the most up-to-date security upgrades. If there are any new upgrades to install, install them immediately, restart your computer, and revisit the site until there aren’t any other essential updates.

Spyware Doctor – to help stop trojans, spy ware and malware from installing. Install & update Spyware Doctor.
